GaleForce is a virtual robotics and coding game where students (grades 3-10) are asked to join the GaleForce Robotics Disaster Relief Team to help San Juan, Puerto Rico to prepare and recover from a hurricane. Students work with a fleet of virtual robots and drones in remote-controlled or block-based coding missions such as evacuation, delivery of supplies, clearing debris from roads, or rescuing lost pets.
GaleForce missions are aligned with the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS) standards and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) standards for grades 3 - 10.
The game was designed to support up to 4 teams of 4 players (16 students), but can easily accommodate additional team members. We recommend using GaleForce with groups of 20 or less, though it may be possible with a larger group.
Code is shared in real time between team members who choose to work on the same mission. This style of "pair programming" allows students to work together to solve problems. Depending on your group, you can require pairing or allow students to choose which missions to work on independently.
Use the dashboard to control game options for your students.
GaleForce has the option to enable voice chat for students to collaborate remotely.
